E.U. REACH Program Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs)

Re: E.U. REACH Program Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs)

Dear Customers and partners,

The new European Union REACH (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals) Regulation has notification requirements for Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs). The notification requirements apply to any supplier that exports an article, preparation, or chemical substance into the European Union that contains one of the SVHCs. Companies are required to notify their customers if their products contain any of the SVHCs on the candidate list below at any concentration. If an SVHC is contained in the article, preparation, or chemical substance or the packaging at a concentration above 0.1% weight then the company is also required to notify the European Union Chemicals Agency, ECHA.

Ma Anshan Steel Packaging Materials Technology  is pleasant to state that none of the substances listed as SVHC’s are present in any VCI product of Steel Packaging Materials.

What are SVHC’s?

Substances of very high concern are defined in Article 57 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (“the REACH Regulation”) and include substances which are:  Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or toxic to Reproduction (CMR), meeting the criteria for classification in category 1 or 2 in accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC,  Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) or very Persistent and very Bioaccumulative (vPvB) according to the criteria in Annex XIII of the REACH Regulation, and/or  Identified, on a case-by-case basis, from scientific evidence as causing probable serious effects to human health or the environment of an equivalent level of concern as those above (e.g. endocrine disrupters).
